This fall, 4,023 first-year students joined the Kent Campus, marking the fourth time in five years that an incoming class has surpassed 4,000. The Class of 2029 brings a vibrant mix of experiences, perspectives and aspirations, poised to shape the future of the university and beyond.

October is cybersecurity awareness month, and 91�Թ���’s information security team is informing students and staff about how to stay safe online through four weeks of interactive fun with the chance to win some amazing rewards. The goal, of course, is year-round attention to cyber threats.

91�Թ��� has earned an AASHE STARS Silver rating for its ongoing commitment to campus sustainability, a step up from the bronze rating on the past submission, thanks to the Office of Sustainability and its numerous initiatives.

The new fund will support university and Porthouse productions, the hiring of assistant directors, guest choreographers and guest artists, the hosting of master classes and the awarding of artistic merit-based scholarships to students. Students who receive such scholarships will be known as Roe Green Scholars.

Creating e-textiles – electronic textiles that can be used to integrate wearable technology into clothing that is comfortable and practical – is the topic of a hands-on, maker workshop and a lecture in 91�Թ���’s Design Innovation (DI) Hub in collaboration with Kent State’s School of Fashion.

91�Թ���’s School of Theatre and Dance, Wick Poetry Center and Brain Health Research Institute joined forces for an Oct. 1 dance performance that set poetry to motion.

This year’s Homecoming theme is Flash’s Birthday Bash, and in honor of this, those who formerly served as Flash mascots have been named this year’s Homecoming Parade Grand Marshals.  

The wetlands near Kent State's Kent Campus are a great location for studying wildlife. Researchers visited recently to install nesting boxes for ducks.
