Kent State students traveled to Columbus, Ohio, to learn about human trafficking and local organizations working to eradicate it.

I  had no idea what human trafficking was until I came to Kent. My freshman year, I was shown the documentary “Nefarious” that completely broke my heart for the people who have fallen into the shadows of society as victims of human trafficking. Starting Friday, April 7, from 12:10–1 p.m., faculty and staff can enjoy a 50-minute lunchtime disc golf scramble on 91Թ's 18-hole disc golf course at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.  The program will start promptly at 12:10 p.m. in front of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. In order to perform necessary maintenance on the boilers, steam transmission systems and electrical distribution systems, 91Թ's Power Plant will be shut down for one week in May. Shutdown begins at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, and remains until start-up begins at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. As a result of the steam shutdown, most buildings located on campus will NOT have hot water to sinks and showers, etc. or air conditioning. Transgender Students Find Home, Security and Support at Kent State

For Emily Grubb, all it took was looking through a magazine to decide where to go to college. A high school friend shared a copy of Fusion magazine, 91Թ’s first lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) magazine, which led Grubb to the university. Kent Trumbull Student Brings Theatre to the Deaf Community

91Թ at Trumbull sophomore Jessie Narkum is co-directing performances of The Little Mermaid Jr. on April 7 and 8, at Hubbard High School Auditorium. This isn’t the typical student-directed play. Narkum, an American Sign Language (ASL) major, is working with Hubbard High School ASL teacher Richard Magazzine to produce the play entirely in ASL. Audio translations will be available for the hearing audience.   Narkum says it is important to connect her passion to her education. “I have friends who are deaf, so bridging communication has become my purpose,” Narkum says. ...
